A. D. Munsinger funeral

Postby Rlvaughn on 2009 Jan 13 Tue 3:21 pm

Funeral services for Brother A.D. Munsinger are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, in Jacksonville, Texas. Bob Goodnight, Adrian Neal and Kevin Gentry will be holding the services. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, also at Autry Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery in Gallatin. Bro. Munsinger is survived by his wife, four children, and other friends and family.

Brother Munsinger was born September 10, 1926 and passed away Monday, January 12, 2009. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Maydelle, TX at the time of his death. He pastored churches for over 57 years -- I think mostly in the Anderson County, Old Cherokee, and Mt. Zion Associations in Eastern Texas. Seems I remember he may have done some mission work and/or evangelism in the Houston area as well.

Is he the dad of Bro. Albert Munsinger? I really enjoyed the message that he brought at LMBIS Fall Visitor's Day. I'm sorry to hear about that. I think my parents are probably acquainted with Bro. A.D. Munsinger.

Yes, this is Albert Munsinger's father. Bro. A. D. Munsinger was well-known among the older generation, but probably not so much so among younger ones. He has had some health problems for several years. I think his last pastorate was at Emmanuel MBC at Pollok, TX.

He has been a friend of our family since before I was in the family. He pastored Smyrna in our community 1952 – 1954 and again 1984 – 1992. The first time was in the days when they had Saturday night service and then again on Sunday. He and family often stayed with my parents on Saturday night. I don't think Albert was born at that time yet either.

Brother Munsinger was a diligent Bible student and when you talked to him the Bible was definitely going to be where the conservation went.
