"The California Supreme Court upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage Tuesday, but it also decided that the estimated 18,000 gay couples who tied the knot before the law took effect will stay wed." Read the rest of this story:

It wasn't so much a ban that we voted for it was an amendment to our state constitution that defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. It is uncontestable as an amendment to the constitution and the only way to change it now is by a vote of the populace to repeal that amendment. Now the State Supreme court saw fit to leave the abominational marriages in tact (grandfathered in clause) so we will either have to accept this partial victory or push forward to have those denied as well. I don't percieve an effort to do that though by this states leaders.

The biggest weapon that is taken out of the supporters of abominational marriage is the concept of it being a Civil rights issue. That was the crux of the argument in the court and the judges soundly denied it as a valid complaint 6 - 1, oooh raahh that weapon is destoryed.
