GOP poor performance

A new Pew Research Center survey suggests that "the public recently has rejected the GOP for poor performance, not because it disagrees with the party's positions on key issues."

I find that very interesting. I agree that the Republicans have performed poorly. It is my opinion that in our state they partially swept into power because of a claim of wanting smaller government (among other things). Once in power, they didn't really try to create smaller government but rather just changed the things big government did and what they spent their money on.

Which is why if the GOP leadership would quit trying to sound like the Democrats, they might be able to make a major comeback in 2010. Dick Cheney's national security speech yesterday reportedly is polling well, and pundits are saying that Obama is now on the defensive.

I agree 100% with the idea that the Republicans were kicked out for poor performance. They did not live up to their 2004 campaign promises, and paid for it in 2006. They failed to heed the warning, and paid an even heavier price in 2008.
