How Do You Get Soul Winning Prospects?

Postby Mwithem on 2007 Dec 29 Sat 8:40 am

I have a question. We have men that go out every week (in the evenings) soul winning, but it is a constant challenge keeping them supplied with good prospects. When it is daylight (summer time), this is not nearly as important because we can always go "door to door," or do "street evangelism," or go to a public park, etc. However, when it is dark (winter time) or when the weather does not allow open air evangelism, we need specific prospects that we can follow up on. We used to go to our local hospital and go "room to room," however someone complained and the hospital administration has barred us from doing this. Other than "first time visitors" to your church services, do you have any ideas on how to obtain soul winning prospects? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

God bless.

Bro Mike,

One thing we did at Marshall Drive was gather at church and assign to those who came out for visitation a segment of the church membership to call. While still at the church building these calls would be made. I know this is not soul winning visits but can ultimately lead to souls won.

At one point we used an automated dialer to gain soul winning visits. We had a few souls led to a profession but no disciples made in this way.

When there are no prospects and the weather is bad you can send your soul winners into places like Walmart, KMart, Sam's Clubs, etc. with the intent to strike up conversations with random people in the store. The purpose is to begin to talk to them about the Lord and to give a tract. Now care must be taken as you are on private property at that point. If you are seen by the store management to be soliciting you could be made to leave as our young people were made to leave our area mall. There is nothing a company can do if in the course of browsing the store you start conversing with customers or clerks and the conversation leads to the subject of Christ.

As you well know in the home visits are hard to come by, especially the more metropolitan our cities become.

Wal Mart Evangelism

Postby Mwithem on 2008 Jan 04 Fri 11:20 am

Bro. Ricky,

Thank you for your response to my inquiry. While I have thought about using the "Wal Mart" approach to evangelism, we have not actually tried it yet. I think you are right, though, and that as long as we used some discretion (and actually bought an item or two), it could be a productive method.

I am currently investigating a soul winning ministry that is being used by Emmanuel Bapist Temple in Hagerstown, MD. It is called "Spark of Grace Ministry." They use a religious survey, somewhat similar to the "Two Minute Survey" used by many of our brethren, to gather prospects. So far, I am really excited about what I am learning.

Keep up the good work, brother.

God bless.

The survey method is a good way to get people to talk with you. I have used it in my door to door work with several of my fellow church members. The most timid are able to follow the script and end up sharing the gospel.

Evangelism

Gentlemen,
I'm coming in late in the game but, I use the 2 minute opinion poll and then lead in to Ray Comfort's methods. I like them both. The opinion poll allows an easy in to conversation then the Comfort method takes them through a practical gospel presentation.
