I.K. Cross's Obituary

Postby Ben Stratton on 2009 Feb 21 Sat 5:44 pm

(I just read where the great Landmark Baptist historian I.K. Cross died last December. I never met Bro. Cross, but I consider him one of the best Baptist historians of the second half of the 20th century.)

Dr. I.K. Cross, 91, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in a local hospital.

Dr. Cross was born March 21, 1917, in Huntington, Ala. He was a retired minister and member of County Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Cross of Texarkana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mickie and Jim Perkins of Texarkana and Johnnie and George Barnes of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Arley Cross of Tulsa, Okla.; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.

Services will be l p.m. Saturday at County Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Copeland officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.

The family will receive friends at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Scholarship Fund at Missionary Baptist Seminary, 5224 Stagecoach Rd., Little Rock, AR. 72204
