Is religion an important part of your daily life?

Here's how the states of the U.S. ranked according to a Gallup Poll that asked: "Is religion an important part of your daily life?"

The answer obviously could mean any kind of religion to the person answering it.

One of the Southern Baptist pastors who helped to advance this survey stated, "This just shows that Southerners know how to answer the question..."
"And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath..." (Deuteronomy 28:13)

You're probably on to something there. It might be likely that a Southerner and a Northeasterner, for example, who were equally "not-so-religious" might nevertheless view differently how important they think religion is in their daily lives (or have a different perspective of what they "ought" to say to answer the question) and therefore the answer would tell very little about the difference, if any, between the actual importance of religion in their lives.

And since the poll was whatever religion was personal to the person being questioned, with Mike I too am surprised that Utah is not darker green.
