Bro. Denny,
We are going to use JP in Coachella. We have 5 team leaders to lead groups into neighborhoods each week, beginning this week. We are focusing on the Survey technique for this campaign and following w/ a door hanger if they are not home. NOTE: The survey is not my first choice but it is useful.

FMBC Redlands is using JP too, and has begun weekly outreaches already, and they've had great success.

The whole of JP is to get more people involved in some type of outreach. The survey is part of the package. It is the one used by Charlie Ellison developed from Rick Warren. We are using JP with the goal of getting more people involved in outreach. We are training our people to be prepared to share the gospel door to door and face to face. The Survey is a simple way to start a conversation, but it's intention is not to lead someone through a quick "conversion experience" but to open the door of conversation and bring the conversation to the Gospel. The survey is not meant to replace a Gospel sharing experience but to simplify it.

If we get more Church members involved in outreach by using Jerusalem priority, have we fallen short? If by "getting numbers" we bring people to God's house to hear the Gospel clearly preached, have we failed? If a lost person is welcomed into God's house by loving Christians and introduced to Christians in an atmosphere of fellowship, have we failed? (NOTE: Jerusalem Priority was not developed to by an "end all" outreach, but a tool to whet the appetite of lazy church members for greater outreach. JP is not meant to BE the Outreach Program for churches, but it is meant to START an outreach program for churches)

You seem to take the "it's a gimmick" attitude towards outreach programs like Jerusalem Priority.

Here are some questions.

What is the purpose of church services? (worship God, growth, feed the flock)

Where is the gospel to be preached? (to the lost world, outside of His church)

Where does God receive glory? (only in His church)

Who does God accept worship from? (only in His church)

Your answers to these questions will show what you believe to be proper outreach and will lead you in a direction to outreach according to what you believe. Where is the scripture that advocates bringing visitors to a worship service? Seeing that they are not able to worship God according to His acceptable form of worship (in His church).
This is my opinion and I will not say it is the only way. But worship service is to worship God, sing Him praise, feed the flock etc. Salvation preaching is to be done outside the doors, in the world. I am not saying we are to ban visitors, but our focus should not be to merely get visitors. The focus is to lead them to the Lord, baptism and in the church, where they can be fed and worship.
I just think we get our goals backward sometimes.

I agree EXACTLY with your answers!! The only reason we are doing Jerusalem Priority is to get our people in the groove of talking to folks about God. I don't disagree with ANYTHING that you've posted.

Just a follow up.... We had NO visitors yesterday due to our efforts in Jerusalem Priority. BUT, in the past two weeks our Church Members (some who've never been on outreach) have shared the Gospel clearly w/ about 30 people, and we've publicized our Church to bout 1000 homes.

We are praying that God will bless His Word.

Praise God! That's what Jerusalem Priority is about. Our job is to be faithful to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and leave the results to the Lord. We plant and water, but God gives the increase in His time and for His glory.

Praying for your Gospel witness!

God has been blessing our efforts.... Using Jerusalem Priority as a tool, we have been reaching into our communities around our church members. We have had many opportunities to share the Gospel. We have had multiple first time and repeat visitors.

I encourage all of you to GET OUT and reach your cities for Christ. Our people are fired up about spreading the Gospel. They have been motivated by God blessing them as they go out into their neighborhoods. When God motivates them, we don't have to keep them motivated!

Our time is short, let's reach our cities for Christ!!!
