This is designed to be a more "interactive" way to post missionary reports. Here, missionaries may post their report, and respond to specific questions related to their ministry.

Kevin Plaster Mission Report - February 08 (Russia)

THANK YOU
Over the Christmas holidays Tammy and I do what we can to spend time with our sons, Brandon and Jared. This means our “Christmas budget” is spent on airline tickets. We received some Christmas gifts from individuals and churches that we applied to the cost of these tickets. We are very grateful for your thoughtfulness.

ECONOMY
Five years ago the currency exchange rate was about 32 rubles to the dollar. Now the rate is 24 rubles to the dollar, a loss of 25 percent. Please prayerfully consider Russian Missions as a part of your missions budget.

TWO BY TWO

Over the holidays I traveled to Loveland, Colorado, and Houston, Texas, for the specific purpose of doing evangelism with John Sanders and Charlie Ellison. In Colorado, John and I went to a local mall to witness. In Houston, Charlie and I went to a “skate park” and witnessed to some kids playing in the rain. Then we went to KIMA, an amusement park there in the area. In each place we were able to effectively reason with people about sin, righteousness and the coming judgment.

THE FRUIT OF REPENTANCE
JAVA JACKS, NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS

Java Jacks is a coffee house I frequented while in East Texas. Three things attracted me—good coffee, free internet, and college students.
One evening a young man caught me at the door as I was leaving and asked to talk with me. He had overheard portions of my conversation with others and was interested in being a missionary.
I asked him to tell me a little about himself and he did. He was self-employed and seemingly successful. He wasn’t active in church because of something others had done to offend him.
At this point I just decided to witness to him and learned that he committed adultery frequently. I told him I didn’t have any confidence in his salvation. He said he had prayed and asked Jesus to forgive him and didn’t that count for something. I told him that adultery was not one of the fruits of repentance, and since nothing changed he needed to examine whether he was in the faith or not.
If this young man were going to be a missionary, he needs to follow Spurgeon’s advice, “If a man’s life at home is unworthy, he should go several miles away before he stands up to preach. When he stands up, he should say nothing.”
