Miss California and gay marriage

Postby Rlvaughn on 2009 Apr 21 Tue 6:29 am

I don't know if this is worth posting, or if it might give promotion to a pageant that doesn't need it. But I ran across an interesting "controversy" on the internet news. According to the story, the girl from California in the Miss USA contest answered a question about homosexuality and said that she is against gay marriage. Now everybody is up in arms.

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, said, "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family." Well, Keith, if this should be left out of it, why did the homosexual judge ask the question to start with!!?

Oh, well. I was kind of wondering especially for the take of some of you Californians -- especially with the status of Proposition 8 still in the balance (at least from what we're hearing over this way).
