Pastors & Political Correctness

Postby Mwithem on 2008 Dec 23 Tue 1:27 pm

Pastor Rick Warren recently made the following statement while speaking to a group of Muslims, "You don't have to see eye to eye to walk hand in hand." I wonder how he reconciles this with Amos 3:3, which asks the question, "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" This should be a lesson to all pastors who, like Warren, have a desire to be politically correct. The road to political correctness will eventually take us away from the Truth of God's Word.

I heard someone (don't remember who or where) suggest that Rick Warren was vying to replace Billy Graham as "pastor to the Presidents". Don't know that there's anything to that. Your post just made me think of it.

Regardless, political correctness is a road to religious compromise.

Bro. Mike, I understand why so many people have issue with Rick Warren.....however the same people that bash him will stand courageously behind and quote John Macarthur who is not baptist, is a calvinist and universal church, has written many books and profited from them and is sharing his heresy as much or more than Warren......can you explain this phenomenon to me? Seriously.

To answer your statements.....My son is an unregenerate sinner who knows absolutely nothing about God (he's two years old) how can I stand to hold his hand? Is it potential belief? Is it that I favor him because I am related to him? How can I walk hand in hand with him? Because I love him. The other side to Ricks statement is that how many Muslims would be willing to walk hand in hand with him? IF they did they might get witnessed to and get saved! Is it possible that Barack Obama was saved by Warrens witness during and after their Saddleback round table and that is why he is doing the Inaugural Prayer?

Just like Christians many Muslims are nominal and have no clue what they believe. It is one thing to denounce someone who is leading the blind into hell it is another thing just to be one of the blind being led. Taking the hand of a blind person whatever their race or religion by birth could help lead them to Jesus.

Just some thoughts.....I am not interested in arguing....I just thought I might share some thoughts from another perspective.

God Bless
I believe that the Church is not the 4th Person of the Godhead, that there is no "Immaculate Translation", that every believer is authorized to share the gospel....Yes I'm still a Landmarker!

I would consider Mr. Warren and his saddle...bags...backs...(whatever) assembly to be as much of a New Testament church as Mr. Holsteen and his group in Dallas.....ugh! Still, one would be surprised at how often Mr. Warren and others I could name get their message out by teachers, deacons, etc., bringing their books into Missionary Baptist Sunday School Class rooms and teaching from them. AGGGHHHH!!! Of course, it is my opinion, but I am not alone. I just do not think such hereti....hereti.....truth challenged folk should be given that soapbox.

I don't know if that is good or bad or just simply a sign of to much T.V. as a kid. :D
