I have almost finishing reading John Clarke (1609-1676): Pioneer in American Medicine, Democratic Ideals, and Champion of Religious Liberty, by Louis F. Asher. Brother Asher taught at BMATS in Jacksonville and pastored a couple of churches in Rusk County, TX. This new edition is published by The Baptist Standard Bearer, Inc. (2004). Brother Asher was a thorough researcher and I highly recommend the book. An unfortunate thing about it is that Bro. Asher died before the book was published, so he didn't get to polish the product himself. There were several typographical errors in the edition published by Dorrance in 1997, but I think Baptist Standard Bearer probably cleaned these up (I haven't seen the new edition).
