Advertising Campaign

Just wanted to share an ad we are using for this week's rally. I am beginning a big ad campaign in our town.

It is essentially to create buzz. It is intentionally cryptic so that people will come and find out what it is all about.

But.... a few things that we will discuss:

1) Many youth groups are known for their various activities around campfires including roasting marshmallows. But a Christian group is known for something much more - Jesus Christ. Being part of the church means more than just the social networking factor - it is more than a few burnt marshmallows.

2) Many religious groups are teaching a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. These are teaching a puffy religion without any substance. It is a cotton candy religion that melts under scrutiny. When we are anchored in Christ, we have a faith that is not just a jet-puffed faith, but a faith that is built on a strong foundation of Christ.

3) Many Christians are very proud of all the stuff they know- they are puffed up with knowledge. They lack the love which edifies the brethren. While knowledge is a good thing, we are not here to create knowledgeable people, but disciples of Jesus Christ. The knowledgeable person is often puffed up and has forgotten his first love.

I pray that everyone that sees the ad will come on Friday to have the unanswered questions about the ad answered. Our goal is to leave a question with everyone, and a desire to learn more so that they will come and see Jesus face to face.

At the rally, we are going to have a bunch of marshmallow games. The sermon will include several marshmallow videos:

1) The microwaved marshmallow.

2) The overcooked marshmallow.

3) The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man from the Ghostbusters.

With these three videos, we will use a very common thing- the marshmallow to teach some important spiritual truths about our Savior.
