CA "Old State" Association

Postby Rick Howard on 2009 Apr 05 Sun 1:28 pm

Our dear Lord blessed with a wonderful 78th session of this CA Association the past few days, with as sweet a spirit and mighty display of God's moving Hand as I have ever witnessed.
The music and singing had us sitting together in heavenly places.
I was privileged to preach the Thursday evening sermon and Bro. L.D. (Doug) Perdue was the speaker for Friday evening.
The Spirit carried me along in my weakness and Bro. Perdue preached with great fervency and clarity for over an hour that seemed much shorter, resulting in great joy, even tears.
Hearing him preach in this setting was a highlight for me over all these years - Bro. Perdue is my uncle by marriage and a member where I am pastor.
In both evening services, folks came to the altar and in BOTH services a soul was saved. Hallelujah!
I have attended these meetings all my life and don't think I've ever witnessed salvation in both evening services.
Bro. Perdue said it reminded him of the kind of Associational meetings in his young ministry in CA in the 40's.
We have hopes these two will go on to request baptism and unite with a NT church, but for now, we rejoice with joy unspeakable for their salvation!

This week will be the gathering of the CA Cooperative Association with many brethren of this forum in attendance. Pray with me that God will pour out His blessings upon His people there.

Bro. Butler,
The CA Cooperative Association meeting will begin Tuesday evening at the Visalia Convention Center and last through part of Thursday.
They do have preliminary meetings of the various committees through the day on Tuesday.

Hi Bro. Rick-
As host Pastor of the Ca. "Old State" Association Meeting I not only agree with your comment but must add that I could not have been more pleased with the outcome of the meeting. I am also very proud of the Mt. Vernon Church for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the meeting. As you know there is alot of work involved, but the blessings are still pouring in. Regarding the two souls that were saved; both young ladies are 16 and both have been attending the Mt. Vernon Church. I have spoken with both and they are both happy and satisfied that their"experience" was genuine. One of the young ladies came forward on the Sunday following the meeting requesting baptism. I will be speaking to her parents soon to discuss the importance of baptism. They are catholic so please pray for her and her family as there is a great opportunity to witness of not only God's saving Grace but His Church as well.

Do any of you brethren know where I could get a recent (07, 08 or so) minute book of the Old California Association?

Thanks.

I wish I could have said the same for thr Ca. c-op. meeting. I won't get into any details but it was definatly not like the description of the Old State meeting. Everyone please pray for the Ca. co-op. and the need for God's healing and our humility to let it happen.
