Assuming you've thoroughly investigated the legalities of it, I say it's worth a shot. Personally, I doubt it's effectiveness for a few reasons (1) the declining use of landlines in favor of cell phones (2) the tendency people have toward hanging up on telemarketers and (3) the relative low yield of telemarketing efforts even when selling a product that people actually want.

I wouldn't fault a man for trying it out, though. Who knows, maybe my thoughts on this are not accurate for your area. At least it gets the message out there.

I had a church advertising on my station, and they complained that their advertisements were not resulting in new visitors. I replied by saying that the Gospel is something everyone needs, but few people want, so the message (especially in an impersonal advertising medium) will go largely rejected.

Telemarketing is more personal, but once they figure out that you are not a friend, family, or the office, I would think they are just trying to get off the phone.

What are your plans?

I stand corrected. It has evidently worked in the windshield business and in the work you are doing. I wouldn't say it works everywhere for everything, but I'll give you credit that you have offered examples of successes. (Bear in mind, I'm biased toward radio due largely to my profession.)

Moral or Biblical reasons to not do it? I can't think of a single one. The Bible teaches that we are to make disciples, we are to proclaim the Gospel, we are to teach the truth. The medium in which that is done is not limited by scripture. I know they did a lot of open air preaching in Acts, but that was all that was available to them.

Good work.

I guess it depends on the market. If you want to advertise, contact your local station for rate info. KSTA (the station I run) only charges $10/spot, but it is a 250 watt AM that services a county of 10,000. OUr stations in Brownwood can get as much as $35/spot (but usually $20 or so), but they are high power FMs and serve close to 60,000 people.

I agree with your assessments of Radio. I think shows like Dave Ramsey, Colin Cowherd, Doug Steffan, and so on are the future of talk radio. Even G. Gordon Liddy is good because he brings in people of opposite views than him and has discussions.

Best radio baseball commentator in my opinion is Milo Hamilton... even if I'm a Rangers fan.
