Pre-, Mid- or post- chip?

Postby LelandAcker on 2009 Jul 30 Thu 8:13 am

I was asked this question recently... and I had never thought about it. When you eat at a restaurant that serves appetizers (like tortilla chips at Mexican food places, or fried wonton at Chinese food places), do you pray before eating the chips, begin eating the chips and then remember to pray, or do you wait and give the Lord thanks when the entree arrives? :D

 I hope this doesn't become a test of fellowship but we pray as soon as we are seated and given our drink orders.

At home, my wife and I [we have no children at home] eat buffet style serving our selves at the range and counter top. We give thanks before we serve ourselves.

Brother, I just don't know if that's scriptural. Don't you have to give thanks, then break bread? If so, is it a requirement that all meals include bread? And if so, are you required to break it? Or can you just bite into it?

I'm sorry. I have downtime and I'm goofing off. I should get back to work.

In all honesty, most of the time we give thanks "pre-chip," but sometimes we get ahead of ourselves. In any case, we are prayed up before the entrees arrive (if there are appetizers involved.). If no appetizers are there, we typically wait for the food.
