In the online correspondence precipitated by the article Mr. Knox made the following statement:
Marv Knox wrote:Thanks for your kind words, and—more importantly—the gracious sentiments they reflect, Richard. I hope and pray people of faith and/or goodwill would approach homosexuality and so many other issues that divide us with at least a grain of humility.
Years ago, one of my mentors told me about a Methodist bishop who responded to every critical letter by acknowledging, "There's a very good chance you may be right." Of course, he also admitted he may be wrong. And so it goes for all of us.
Everyone who has read my editorial knows what I believe and how I interpret Scripture. But I may be wrong. And regardless, even if I am correct on the issue but crush the spirit of another person, I certainly am not right.
So, dear Texas Baptist brethren, the next time your Southern Baptist family or friends asks you the difference between Southern Baptists and Landmark Baptists, you can tell them that Southern Baptists retain editors who are not sure what the Bible teaches about sexual perversion.
You can read about it right here http://www.baptiststandard.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9802&Itemid=9.
