I've often stated if a preacher says he is going to explain the Trinity completely and in an easy to understand way, go spend your time somewhere else.
The truth of the Trinity is one I accept and see clear evidence of in scripture, but a truth so far beyond my ability to understand; or put another way - it is one of those wonderful truths we apprehend but do not fully comprehend.
The baptism of Jesus, as described in Mark 1:9-11, describes all three Persons in different roles existing at the same time and place.
Jesus told us in the Great Commission, Matthew 28:19, to baptize with the Trinity formula, so we do it without complete understanding but accept it as great and important truth.
Deut.6:4, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord."
Ephesians 4:4-6, in the seven unities, declares "one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father."
And, as if often the case of important truth, the Trinity idea is presented in original creation, with God the Father leading out, but using the active Word to accomplish it, while the Spirit was in the background, brooding and moving. These roles of each Person shown in the first three verses of the Bible, are carried out in similar fashion throughout the Bible record.
